For analyzing and testing it is necessary to see what's going on on the track. And this is what the procol reader does. This is a prototype, the finished model look sdifferent, mainly because the new pcb can be used for diferent things.

This device is connected via USB to a MAc or PC and teh computer sees it as a serial interface.

The red and black wires are connected to the track. The USB interface supplies the power needed.

In the meantime the software has been improved and also recognizes data packets sent by the SCX cars, as well as the data from Carrera, Ninco and Scalextric tracks.

The screenshot below shows a little Mac program that shows the data read as a dashboard.

For each car there is the current throttle, lane change switch, light and fuel value as well as number of laps and last laptime. And on the right there is a display of the cars ranking.
